Personal Learning Plan

Throughout the three educational technology classes that I have taken, CEP 810, 811, and 812, I have set many goals for myself, both personally and professionally. It's time now to review those goals and see what I have accomplished and what I still plan to work on. So check out my video at the following link:

  1. Allyson,

Your video was very entertaining to watch! I enjoyed your picture choices. Was the person sky diving you?

I found your final "goal" very interesting. I think that the thought process you want to implement is very practical and effective for a classroom. I guess to a sense that is how we approach teaching so it only makes sense to use that same thought process for using technology in the classroom. I think it is great that you chose to continue using videos and creating stand-alone instructional resources. It is encouraging to see that some of the projects you started in our CEP courses have become valuable to your classroom.

Another small goal you mentioned (that I thought was great) was bookmarking all of the different information we have learned in these courses for the future. I think I am with you that it sometimes feels pressed for time during the school year. Having these sites saved on our computer will be helpful to reference when we are no longer in our courses. I know that I want to go back and save all of the "More You Know" links from our classes since I honestly hardly had time to look at those links. I think it is great that you want to keep a goal of remaining a life-long learner after completing these courses. Good job!

  2. Allyson,

I know what you mean by "just trying to stay afloat!" I didn't start taking classes until my second year teaching, and I am glad I didn't. Being a first year teacher is a journey in itself, and I commend you for being so motivated to take classes and teach at the same time.

I think you have set very reasonable goals for yourself, with the Google forms, STAIR projects, and sub videos you want to do. I also love that you know you need to continue to ask questions, explore resources, and evaluate what you are doing.

Good luck your second year! It will be so much easier, I promise!

  3. In reflecting back on my first year as a teacher, I can't imagine taking these courses and trying to implement the goals you did during that year. Often, we teachers, try to take everything on at once. I commend you for doing such a great job with these courses during your first year! Now you get to breathe easy over the summer!

I, too, have been bookmarking many of the sites that piqued my interest, but that I just couldn't devote time to during the busy school year. I think your goals with the StAIR projects and Google Forms are very attainable goals that you can work towards now that you have a little time and experience under your belt.

It's been great working with you this course!
